Product Manager

San Francisco, CA

Motic may be a newcomer in the medical space, but we are hardly a novice when it comes to creating technologies to solve deep-rooted problems. We made big waves in the global medical community last year when we launched our first products for digital pathology, and will be aggressively expanding our footprint and product reach in the global medical market in 2019.

We are looking for a resourceful, technically-minded Product Manager to liaise with our engineering and factory teams on product requirements, oversee product rollouts, and manage hardware and software implementation with our enterprise partners. Our ideal candidate blends a keen eye for design, a passion for product, and the organizational skills of a project manager.

This is a full-time position based out of our office in San Francisco, CA. You must be authorized to work in the United States.

In this position, you will:

  • Research and actively maintain our understanding of market needs, the competitive landscape, product market fit, development and partnership opportunities, and customer experience requirements in the digital pathology space
  • Continually identify and fill product feature gaps through visiting customers to solicit feedback and generate new ideas to evolve the customer experience and drive growth
  • Create buy-in for product vision, awareness, and understanding both internally in the Motic corporation and with key external partners
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes for quick time-to-market execution with the engineering teams
  • Manage timeline prioritization and enforce product launch deadlines, including working cross-functionally with engineering, factory, marketing, and sales teams, as well as with Motic executives
  • Own the customer feature experience by ensuring that our Customer Success teams are equipped with the knowledge and collateral to aid and train our end users
  • Develop creative product positioning strategies for each application segment in our unique industry, and ensure our promotional plans from sales and marketing are effective and on message
  • Oversee the rollout process for new products and new product features to our end users, helping devise and implement strategic project planning with partners as needed
  • Manage projects in multiple geographical locations; travel to tradeshows and customers as required, a couple of international trips per year likely as well, up to 20% time
  • Report to the Director of Digital Pathology

Does this sound like you?

  • 2+ years of experience in product management or project management; a proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle, from launch to end of life
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies; the ability to oversee software integrations of existing platforms is a key part of ensuring the success of new product releases
  • UX design background; you love clean, beautiful, user-friendly design and can convey UX requirements to product engineers
  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent preferred, but coding academy candidates with a strong interest and background in technical products are also highly encouraged to apply
